Welcome to the Twenty First Century Authors and Future Authors Blog,

You have been tagged because you either have published a book or have a deep desire to publish a book. With the advancement of the Internet in recent years, an unknown author can become a best seller overnight.

After tutoring math for more than 15 years on a voluntary and professional basis as a business owner, inspiration stirred in me and the result was my first book “How to Help Parents and Kids Get Over the Fear of Math, which was published in 2007. Armed with a small budget and fueled by a passion to help my students, this book sold several hundred copies in two years.

After writing my first book, many people asked “When is the next book coming?” The next book turned out not to be a sequel, but an intimate account of the journey that it took to produce the first book. It describes the successful promotional events and the not so successful promotional events. It describes my joys, fears, sorrows, and triumphs. It highlights a few life lessons that I learned along the journey.

This second book describes why the first book was written, what and who inspired the first book, and what was the best publishing option for the first book. It also details the timeline and marketing plan used for the first book. As a bonus, a simple cost model is included to help the author to calculate the price of his/her book based on cost input factors.

My second book entitled “Journey of a Modern Day Author: Secrets of Successful Self-Publishing is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2010.

Hopefully, after reading the upcoming book, you will be inspired to write your story and share it with the world.

We are waiting to hear from you!

In order to make this blog useful to everyone, let us adopt two housekeeping rules.

1) Give and Take –If you want to promote your book, feel free to do so, but give information that will help the body in regard to publishing and marketing, then take the opportunity to promote your book.

2) If you recommend a product, service, or event to the body relevant to publishing or marketing, state if you have tried it and recommend it. If you have not tried it, give the body a disclaimer and let us know that it is untested.

If anyone has any other housekeeping items, let us know.

Here are a few suggested Blogging Topics to get us started.

  • Why are you writing a book?
  • Self-publishing vs. traditional publishing
  • Branding
  • Marketing your book for the new millennium
  • Using the Internet to promote your book
  • We are not limited to these. What would you like to discuss relevant to publishing and marketing?

    4. I look forward in sharing this dialogue with you. Writing my book was an intense and fulfilling journey. I meet people all the time that say “I have always wanted to write a book.” I say, “well go ahead and write.” If it is in a person’s heart, they won’t be satisfied until they do it.
